My students are truly remarkable. These students have a thirst for knowledge that is almost unquenchable. These students yearn to learn through interactive lessons. My students love reading, math, and science. They even refer to themselves as detectives looking for clues. My students love using STEM activities to explore the world around them.
I teach at a Title I school in a low-income area.
Currently, there are 20 students in my class. My students’ ability levels are varied from below grade level to above grade level. Nevertheless, all of my students are avid learners. These are students who love coming to school and participating in daily lessons and activities.
Our school is the center of its community because it is a neighborhood school. Many students live within walking distance and participate in many after-school programs.
In the past, our school has struggled with test and school performance scores. During the previous year, we have made great strides in turning those scores around. Our school has increased its test scores and school performance score by a letter grade. This type of growth will only continue if students have the necessary tools!
My students are living in a technology-based world. Many of my students' daily classroom assignments require them to use technology.
Giving my students a Chromebook and headphones will assist them in completing their daily math and reading assignments.
My students use Chromebooks to complete daily activities on Zearn and Reflex. Both Zearn and Reflex are math programs that provide opportunities for my students to strengthen their math skills. Lessons in Zearn support our math curriculum. This program requires Chromebooks as well as headphones as some lessons include video instruction. Reflex is a math fact fluency program. This program also requires Chromebooks and headphones. Students will also benefit from the Chromebook and headphones in reading as they use the Arc Core library of books and take Accelerated Reader tests.
