This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

A couple of months ago, my classroom was blessed with a new set of wireless headphones, thank to donations from Donors Choose! The impact on the students was immediate, with the focus on their video editing work improving significantly. Par for the course when integrating new technology into existing technology, a lot of logistical concerns and needs must also be addressed to ensure the health and working condition of the new equipment.

This time around the ask is twofold: we are in need of headphone accessories and additional pairs to round out our 2nd set; plus writing utensils and a pencil sharpener.

What needs improvement is headphone storage and charging. Right now, the headphones are stored in a container when not in use. Ideally, a pair would be stored and charged next to a computer. Hence, the need for headphone hooks to be affixed to the wall beside each machine. Cables to charge wireless devices can get worn or misplaced easily, so I'd like to have a surplus of extra cables on hand just in case. Same with headphones as well. In our initial campaign for headphones, we raised funds for 16 pairs. 12 are currently in use, to compliment our 12 iMacs. We have 4 pairs remaining. It would be nice to round out the 2nd set with 8 more pairs. And lastly, there can never be enough pens and pencils for students in need; and a dedicated sharpener just for our class.
