My Students
As a math teacher, I get to work with entire grade levels by co-teaching lessons and working with small groups of students. My students are extremely hard working and come into math with a positive attitude. I have worked to instill a growth mindset in my students. This has helped students be open to learning new content and trying new strategies. Despite any challenges students may be facing, they demonstrate perseverance and give their absolute best.
My students are a diverse group who are continuing to learn about perseverance and how to be in control of their emotions.
The students have a lot of expectations and are beginning to learn how to handle emotions. My students are more engaged and demonstrate a stronger understanding of the content when hands-on or visuals are used. The students especially enjoy learning through inquiry, games, and working with peers.
My Project
This project is for two class sets of headphones. These headphones will be used to make our computer carts complete with working headphones. Currently, we have computers for classrooms to use, however, many of the headphones are broken and need to be replaced. Without these headphones, students are not able to fully use the technology available to them. Our classroom computer programs provide video and audio instruction to students who have difficulty hearing if headphones are not used.
Students will not only be able to hear the questions being asked or the instructions being provided, but students will be able to speak into the computer allowing for appropriate tools for students who need this assistance.
With these headphones, students will be able to use our academic programs to their fullest. Students will also be able to build their own learning portfolios. Using the microphone students will be able to record themselves describing their work or explaining the process they took to solve a problem. This will greatly benefit students who have difficulty writing or spelling.
