Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Like Nelson Mandela once said, "it takes a village to raise a child". I teach 17, 1st grade, urban students who are highly driven. They harbor dreams of becoming pilots, nurses, police officers, teachers, lawyers and last but not least an "ice cream girl". They are beautiful children, despite their challenging home environment.
They are an incredible group of learners, who believe the world has no limit to their aspirations and dreams!
Please help me to inspire on this journey of learning!
My Project
My students love to read and learn. They need new leveled guided reading books to help them grow to be independent readers. I am a first year teacher in a Title I school. I have no resources to share with my students. I chose this project with different leveled books to fit the needs of all my students.
They long to read but lack leveled guided reading books which will support instruction in their comprehension and fluency skills.
These books will help in my balanced literacy block during guided reading. This is the time where I meet with small groups to instruct students on reading strategies. Kindly, help me fulfill their dreams of becoming independent readers!
