Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Have you ever had someone who inspired you to be better? Someone who you could look up to? Our students learn that they can be whoever they want when they grow up.
Our school population includes students from all over the world.
We have a large immigrant population too, which means they have dreams of being successful here in the US. We learn a lot about empathy and understanding in our classes, and students study inspiring people to help motivate them.
My Project
We learn about gender roles as it relates to an inequity in education around the world. My students are amazed to learn that there are girls and boys in other places who do not have the same access to education as they do. They are inspired by the story of Malala and how much she fights for others to have the same access and rights as they do, so they can be successful and live their dreams. We want to help them with their own goals by showing them this video.
The film He Named Me Malala will make a huge difference in the lives of our students by showing them the true story of a girl their age who has literally made a difference in the world of education for children from all parts of the globe.
They will be motivated to achieve their own goals too by pushing themselves deeper past their own comfort zone.
