My Project
I am a first year teacher looking to break the mold of an ordinary classroom. I believe students should get to experience their learning through hands-on activities that support their curriculum.
As part of Hawaiian studies, students should get to experience designing native Hawaiian technology, such as a wa'a, or traditional Hawaiian canoe.
A great way to combine native technology with modern technology is through 3D printing. Students will be able to design their wa'a online and watch it come to life. This gives them the opportunity to learn through an engaging activity where they get to express their creativity. Adding a 3D printer to our classroom will provide opportunities for students to bring their creativity to life.
My students deserve the opportunity to use these resources to support their learning of Hawaiian studies because they should learn about the place they live. They are eager to learn and look forward to participating in hands-on activities.
