My Project

Integrating the cultural aspects of my surroundings into the classroom creates a powerful learning environment. Students feel a sense of belonging when their backgrounds and the community's cultures are reflected in lessons. This fosters engagement and allows them to see the relevance of what they're learning. Furthermore, incorporating cultural viewpoints enriches understanding and ignites creativity.

For example, planting marigolds can be a fun way to tie in cultural practices.

In some cultures, marigolds hold symbolic meaning or are used in traditional medicine. Planting them in the classroom can spark discussions about these cultural connections while also offering a hands-on science lesson about plant growth. By connecting environmental science, history, or literature to local practices, concepts become more meaningful.
