My Students

My class is made up of 26 TK students in their first full-day school experience. They are four year olds beginning their first year in a two year kindergarten program. These students come from households with diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. They also come with diverse school readiness levels and abilities.

My students are eager to be in school and my goal is to instill a love of learning and excitement for a school experience.

I feel so fortunate to be guiding my students through their introduction to school. I want to provide a motivating and comfortable environment to help their days in my class be comfortable and happy.

My Project

TK students need different sizes and types of PE equipment than older elementary students.

I want my students to feel successful and look forward to our PE lessons.

That will happen with sensory balls that are easier to throw and catch, yarn balls that are the right size for their hands to throw, and soft flying discs that are easy to use. It is also important to have enough equipment for students to share so they will stay engaged in the activity.

Our PE lessons can teach physical skills correctly with these items rather than trying to adapt the equipment used by the older grades.
