This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I teach the FIRST LEGO League curriculum to all grades K-8. The league for grades 4-8 is called Challenge. In this league, students are given challenges (like picking something up or moving something from place to place) and they need to code and build a robot to move aound a table to complete the various tasks.
The large table required for the FIRST LEGO league needs to be able to be broken down into smaller parts, so we can easily store it in the classroom or transport it to the competions.
The table is a key component in the FIRST LEGO Challenge league, as the edges of the table can be used by the robot to be bumped against to aid in completing the challenges. It is required to have some form of a table with edges, so that the Challenge map for the year can be rolled out and placed on it for the students to use as a guide when building and coding their robots.
