My Project
By the time students reach upper elementary, solving math problems often involves some serious thinking and multiple steps. For many students, this can be a challenge because they want to do well and find a correct solution, but they also don't want to make a mistake. Instead of forging fearlessly ahead, students freeze and wait for someone else to try rather than risk a mistake and erase or start over.
My students need dry erase materials so they can show their math problem solving skills and not be afraid to make mistakes.
When students have individual dry erase boards and vertical dry erase surfaces to collaboratively problem solve, they are much more engaged and willing to try. If they do make a mistake, it is much easier to quickly correct and move forward. This is important because learning from mistakes is so powerful! These individual boards and the dry erase film needed to create more vertical work space for will help my students become Math Super-Solvers.
