I work with autistic children who have varied needs and abilities. They have giggles and wiggles and need to get their energy out on a regular basis. Some need to sit still, others want to move at the same time as they are doing their work.
Noise bothers most of them but to varying degrees.
They love to touch everything to help them learn. They also love to watch Discovery Ed videos on Science and Social Studies! While they watch our educational videos, they like to snuggle up with pillows and bean bags.
My Project
The wobble stools and beanbag chairs will give flexible seating options to my students who need something besides the standard school provided seating. Being able to have seating that can be more comfortable and provide them the opportunity to burn off their excess energy helps them to focus on doing their best. Light filters are great for reducing the glare and irritation of fluorescent lighting. Fluorescent lighting can be highly distracting to students already sensitive to outside stimuli.
These donations will go a long way to help my students reach their full potential.
I will be able to provide more accommodations to meet their needs due to their disabilities.
