This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a first grade teacher that is blessed with a wonderful group of children. My students are a group of excited and enthusiastic learners and love movement. Our classroom is very basic with only chairs, desks, a bookshelf, and a table for small group. We have a carpet for whole group learning, and most of the teaching is done from a small white board. Because of that, teaching in our class can be somewhat stationary. With a learning cart, I'll be able to teach in a variety of areas.

Kids need movement.

We would really love to have a display cart. Having a display cart to teach from will allow us to meet together as a whole group and give us an opportunity to come together to interact and participate. The learning cart will allow lessons such as interactive lessons around the room such as interactive writing and shared reading. It will also allow me to hold supplies such as math manipulatives during math lessons.

My Project

This Store & Display Teaching Cart would help free up board space that is currently being used to tape up anchor charts and vocabulary words. There is not much room left over to do/show examples throughout the day. Sometimes I will need to refer to the learning cart not during whole group, but also small group. This learning cart would allow students to be up close and hands-on while learning the skills they need to master. It is also good for hanging pocket charts on and provides a lot of storage for teaching materials and manipulatives that can sometimes be hard to find.

This project is important because as a teacher we want the best for our students and sometimes we are limited financially on how much we can do.

This would be a great addition to our room and my students and I would really benefit from it.
