This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend a Title I public school in a multicultural, diverse community. Each student is offered the opportunity to free breakfast and lunch as well as various other free services. Our school is one of seven high schools in the city, and our student population is about 2,000 children. My students bloom in wonderful diversity and culture offered in the school and community, however many struggle due to outside responsibilities.
My students are eager and open to new experiences but struggle to make real-world connections and applications in life.
They flourish when they have new opportunities to learn various ways to be creative and to use these art tools and techniques in other areas of their lives.
My Project
These materials, the UV black lights, fog machine and additional materials will help to create the ambience needed to set the mood of our haunted experience. The black plastic rolls and duct tape will help to create the pathways and stage design for our production. The UV paints will allow my students to perform and create glowing designs in our haunted house. These materials will help to demonstrate how to create the stage and design a live space for creative performance art. Students will be able to participate in creating and performing and understanding the behind the scenes work that goes into art, design and theatre arts when hosting a live production or play. The surrounding schools and our school will be able to participate by walking through and engaging in our Haunted Performance.
