Hate Math Less!

My Project

I have the amazing privilege of working at a theater arts school where student math scores are in need of serious improvement here in the heart of New York City. A significant number of students are from low-income families, and with the small size of our specialized school (207 students), there is not a lot of money in our budget for math technology.

I'm requesting a class set of TI-84 Plus CE calculators because technology can make or break a student's experience in math.

My school currently uses the old TI-84 which is monochromatic, types formulas don't always resemble what is actually meant, and creates graphs that are so pixelated that they can be hard to read accurately. The new version, TI-84 Plus CE, is both visually easier to read and more accurate, and uses color to differentiate between different graphs which are significantly less pixelated.

These higher caliber calculators will make the math more accessible to more students, especially those who are low performing. They will help the students see connections between the different forms of math and how they are related. Students will see their mathematical understanding deepen and their success improve, which I hope will help them hate math less!
