My Project

Every year, we hatch chicken or duck eggs to explore life cycles, inherited traits, animal systems, and ecosystems. This new incubator, paired with our very own hatchling supplies, will lead to better outcomes in hatch than the.older borrowed units we have been using. This is an absolute favorite unit every year that gets kids really engaged in inquiry about what to expect and how to support the new babies. I can scarcely remember another unit where kids are more excited to read, write, and talk at advanced levels.

Hatching and raising poultry in the classroom teaches empathy, compassion, and even a safe way to process loss in our classroom.

This is such a powerful learning and growing experience at every age level!
