My Project
As an agriculture teacher I'm always looking for ways to get my students excited about learning. One way that I accomplish this is by incorporating hands-on acticities as much as possible. Recently, we have been borrowing an egg incubator from our local 4H. Using it students have been able to witness the wonders of life as new chicks emerge from their shells. No matter the age, students get excited when the chick emerge.
Students in my animal science and sustainable agriculture classes benefit from the use of the incubator but having an incubator of our own would open up even more possibilities.
Being able to continue to hatch would open up a way for my classroom to generate additional funds by selling chickens. This project would open doors to animal husbandry and entrepreneurship helping build skills my students need for a successful future.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
