My Students

My students are fourth graders from a variety of backgrounds, nationalities, and socio economic statuses. My school population has greater than fifty percent of students receiving free or reduced meals. My two classes are made up of 27 students each.

My students are eager to learn and enjoy hands-on activities and engaging learning experiences.

I would like to offer them as many learning opportunities as possible. Especially ones they may never otherwise experience! Please consider helping me achieve that goal!

My Project

Incubating and hatching chicken eggs in the classroom is a hands-on learning experience for students. Classroom experiences with chicken embryos can assist with developing students understanding of complex systems such as nutrition and the circulatory system, and even more basic skills such as data measurement, collection, and analysis. Students will be able to see inside the egg and watch the embryo develop with the included egg scope. Students will examine the embryos at different stages of growth and observe the beating heart inside the egg.

This project will help me to provide my students a better understanding of biological concepts and the life sciences for our current and future students.

It will give them the opportunity to learn how an egg is formed, what its different parts and functions are and how a chick embryo develops and hatches. It would also give the insight into particular biological topics such as blood circulation, respiration, and bones. Students will assist in caring for the chicks after they hatch.
