My Project

Hatching chicks in the classroom is an amazing opportunity for my first grader. This experience will allow my students to watch hatching chicks first hand. I have a classroom full of curious, energetic kids who love having access to new opportunities.

This is a great time of year to explore life cycles and how to respect and care for living things around them.

The updated incubator, chick brooder heating plate, and feed will help make the process run more smoothly. These materials will help me teach about the life cycle of a chick, the responsibilities of taking care of an animal, writing nonfiction texts about our chicks, and giving them a real life experience that they may not have the opportunity to have.
