My Project
I am requesting funding for a Sportime GripStarChute 30-foot parachute to enhance both musical instruction and team-building in my high school choir program.
This colorful, durable parachute will serve as a dynamic tool for teaching musical concepts such as phrasing, breath control, and dynamics while also supporting team-building activities and engaging students in creative explorations of climate and environmental themes.
Students will use coordinated movement to physically model musical ideas—rising the parachute to represent a crescendo or lowering it to signal a unified breath—making abstract concepts more tangible and collaborative.
Beyond music, the parachute fosters trust, connection, and a strong sense of ensemble through playful, movement-based team-building activities that encourage communication and inclusivity. In addition, we will use the parachute to explore themes related to climate and the environment. Students will create movement patterns representing natural elements like wind, water, and storms, paired with music and discussion to deepen their awareness of climate change and environmental responsibility.
This tool will support joyful learning, artistic growth, and environmental consciousness.
