My Project
There are many reasons why I love my 6th grade Special Education students who come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and face challenges with learning.
1.
Resilience and determination: My students may face significant challenges in their lives, but they often show remarkable resilience and determination in the face of adversity. Seeing their strength and perseverance is very inspiring. They each have the will to grow, to learn, to overcome.
2. Unique perspectives: My students who come from diverse backgrounds often have unique perspectives and experiences that can enrich the learning environment. Their insights offer valuable help in promoting an inclusive and diverse classroom. Music is a universal language that gives permission to bond and allows us all insight into each other's cultures.
3. Positive Impact: As a teacher, I have the opportunity to make a significant positive impact on the lives of these students. Studies have shown that music can help improve memory, cognitive function, and creativity, which are all important for success in science and many other subjects. Learning music can also help children develop social and emotional skills, such as teamwork, self-expression, and empathy, which are valuable both in and out of the classroom. By providing them with a muscial resource (Bose speaker), I am supporting, encouraging, and furthering the teacher-student bond as well as helping them achieve their full potential through a relatable and incredibly rewarding means. Music.
