I teach in an area of great need. My students' families mostly originate from Cuba, Puerto Rico, and South American countries. We have seen a few new students per week lately from Puerto Rico. Each child's family moved here to flee the effects of Hurricane Maria. My school is responsible for teaching students of whom ninety-three percent qualify for the free lunch program. Although the families don't have many resources you can tell that the children are well loved and cared for.
My classes are full of project based learning.
I incorporate each learning goal into the next project at hand so that each objective has a real world physical application.
My Project
From Beebot to Soundprism the iPad's digital instrument capabilities are wide reaching. Garageband alone contains tons of awesome digital playable instruments. The tactile interface never fails and the bluetooth wireless audio allows us to all hear via the PA in the room, each students creation.
imovie integrated into our music lessons motivates our students to work harder and bring something real to their projects.
Music video was never a real love of mine but I've learned that video is an essential component of the music experience for my students. The iPad does this seamlessly.
