My Students
I teach Academic Intervention Services to students in grades K-5. I encourage my students to know that they are readers.
“Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.” -Margaret Fuller.
Our rural elementary school in upstate New York has a student population of 350 students. Our students are at risk of failing the New York State Assessments and students who are having difficulty academically are recommended to receive Academic Intervention Services. That's where my room comes into play.
My students are hardworking and imaginative young learners. They strive every day to improve all areas of their literacy deficiencies. My students are all very eager to learn and love coming to school. They are independent, hardworking, and compassionate.
My Project
Our reading students work hard every day for an extra 45 minutes outside of their classroom. We work on reading, writing and phonics to practice and develop their literacy skills. For many activities we have phonics worksheets or papers that require coloring. We work with over 60 students in the reading room and with all students using the colored pencils and crayons , we are now down to broken or small crayons and colored pencils.
Our students create bright and beautiful work when they have the right materials in their hands!
By providing new coloring pencils and crayons, our students will be able to create and practice their literacy skills while having fun. Thank you for your consideration of donating to provide our students with new learning tools!
