Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class is filled with amazing special education students. This year we have learned so much about each of their cultures and what makes them special.
They love to interact with each other in a way that makes them feel close.
Before their break, we are looking to prepare them for the year by coming up with an awesome winter break cultural celebration. They will be engaging in activities where they will be working side-by-side. They will also learn fun things about their classmates. I'm hoping that with these materials they have fun and prioritize the meaning of diversity and friendship. The decorating cookie kit will help them share their creativity and the gingerbread house kit will be a team-building activity. The hot cocoa will be part of our get-together and share project. I will be using the wood ornament for them to make one for a peer in their classroom. Through this project, the goal is for them to form lasting friendships.
