Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
A teacher and student-friendly PreK–5 math platform that adapts to each student’s level and pace, supporting deep conceptual understanding, is exactly what I need in my second-grade classroom. This program fits the needs of all learning levels, from my Special Ed kiddos to my English Learners to my GATE students. Since COVID, students are still coming to school with huge holes in their understanding of mathematics concepts. I have students scoring levels from pre-k to 5th grade in my 2nd-grade classroom. This program will help all kids have access to math at their own level and pace.
Happy Numbers will be used for leveled practice, remediation, review, extension, progress tracking, quizzing, and there are also 3 levels of worksheets for each lesson in case I need to quickly do a reteach or send home absent work at different levels for my learners.
I have used this program in the past with great success, and it is the best for showing students how much growth they are making in real time. It is an integral part of my math group rotations, but this year, with budget cuts, we are told our school will not be purchasing for us. I hope with this grant you can help us continue learning math in the most fun and engaging way possible!
