My students need the four Surf Portable Lap Desks and four Balance Balls to incorporate even more flexible seating into our already flexible classroom so we can begin our New Year right.

My Students

I currently work at a Title 1 school where my students come from many different backgrounds and home-life situations. I love the community that my school is centered in because of the diversity. We strive to bring out the leader and learner in each student.

I love teaching 3rd graders!

At this age they are becoming more independent but are still at that age where they love school and their teacher. I enjoy providing them with engaging and fun experiences in the classroom, which help them to love school even more. My classroom ranges anywhere from 16 - 23 students, depending on the school year. The 18-19 school year should bring about 18 fresh, new faces.

My Project

Within my classroom my students have flexible seating where they choose how they work best. I currently have wobble stools, regular stools, low tables for sitting on the floor and a high table for students who like to stand.

How do you work best?

At a desk? On the couch? Laying on your stomach? As adults we all work best in different environments. This goes for my students as well. I would like to add the lap desks and balance balls as more options to my flexible seating arrangements. Kids these days are very active and providing an outlet for that energy while the work on balance balls is an excellent way to get out some of that extra energy. The lap desks are perfect for my kids that like to sit on the floor or by the window in a regular chair. It provides a hard writing surface with the flexibility to work anywhere.

We use white boards and clipboards daily in my classroom; whether its for practicing new math skills, completing science experiments, or group assignments. These dual use clipboards will be a space and time saver. Every minute counts in a busy classroom!

Busy, collaborative classrooms can get noisy! The door bell will come in handy as an attention getter for when my students need to stop working on their current task or there's something the whole class needs to hear.
