My Students

Wow a new year is coming! It's time to replenish those basic school supplies from September. From notebooks with missing covers to lost homework folders, we knew it was time to ask for school supplies to ensure our students get the most out of the second grade!

Hello, we would like to introduce our class to you!

Our class is comprised of twenty-three eager, energetic, and enthusiastic students. They enjoy technology, LEGOs and engineering projects, which is our school focus. Some of our students have special needs (we teach an integrated co-teaching class). We love hearing comments like "I cannot tell the special need students from the general education students" from parents and other observers who visit our classroom. This means we have done our job of fostering a class community of respect and learning for all! Our school is truly early childhood (our grades go from Pre-Kindergarten to second grade). We really get to see our students' blossom. Since our grade is the "oldest" in the school, we tell them they are the role models for our school. So far, they have lived up to our expectations and we will do anything to ensure their success, like writing this proposal!

My Project

We challenge our students everyday to learn as much as they can, to question and discuss, and to write down their ideas and thoughts in all content areas. The supplies we are asking for will help them meet these goals. In writer's workshop, we will use the composition notebooks for our personal narrative journals. We also need composition notebooks for our math Congress where they share their strategies, not about getting a right or wrong answer, but to understand how you got that answer or asking yourself what you have learned from an error. In our technology center, we need headphones, batteries, and copy paper to keep this center running. Digital technology is an integral part of the Common Core Standard. This is where students can gather information for research or get extra support in reading and math. We cannot forget about the supplies needed for homework, like copy paper, folders and notebooks. As you can see, these basic supplies are essentials for every student!

We know that asking for supplies may seem unimportant, but we know how valuable they can be.

Just ask any teacher how they feel when they are in a hurry to make copies and there isn't any paper in the closet or ask a student how they feel when they are eager to listen to their favorite story and find out their headphones don't work or their batteries gave out , then you will understand what we mean.
