Happy New Year..... Let's Meet Some New Authors
My students need new take home books to spark their interest in reading. I have high readers this year that need new chapter books to read for homework.
Homework is a long time point of argument. I want to make my student's reading homework easy by provide books they want to read at night instead of their being a fight.
I have lots of good readers this year.
My books for my higher readers are a little dated. They need updating to make my students excited about reading.
My students are in an urban town in Ohio. I have an inclusion classroom which is composed of students with special needs, at-risk students, and then regular education students, thus creating a gap of learning in my room. I am always looking for solutions to bridge that gap. My students are first graders in an economically depressed area where books have probably not been in their homes since they were little. Their lives are filled with more videos games, TV and DVDs. My students still love learning and school right now and that is why it is so important to put resources in their hands to build their love of reading.
Books are the gateway to so much in a child's life. These books will have a great impact on my students in so many ways. They will learn to become life long readers. They will learn good character traits from reading these books. They will learn good character traits from reading these books. They will learn how to be a good friend. Most importantly they will learn that reading is fun!
The books I am requesting will provide my students with a new selection of books to take home and read. These books are new series that will grab their attention and make them want to read the next book.
Besides being inviting and funny books to read, these books also have great themes to them that can teach my students so much. These themes range from sharing and being friends to its OK being different. The themes of the books will also help inspire my children and help them become confident learners.
Being a reader both in school and outside of school is an important life long skill.
Help my students love reading by providing them with new and interesting books to read for homework. New books will give my students a new incentive to do their reading homework and love books.
