Mrs. Miller-Ahmed from Milwaukee WI is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need the Dr. Seuss Classics hardcover library and the CD's to experience these famous classics.

Which is your favorite Dr. Seuss book? The Cat in the Hat? Green Eggs and Ham? Everyone loves Dr. Seuss and my class is no exception.
My eighteen first grade readers attend a high-poverty public school in Wisconsin.
They are learning to read. Some know the alphabet, some are learning basic sight words, and some students are fluent readers. They all love to read Dr. Seuss because of the vivid illustrations and rhyming text. His books are great for beginning readers.
The Dr. Seuss Classics Hardcover Library and Listen, Read and Rhyme CD will be used during a Dr. Seuss unit in our classroom and throughout the school year. Currently, students use the few old copies of Dr. Seuss books that the school provides. They would enjoy reading brand new books that are not torn or ripped. This unit coincides with an author study our class does about Theodore Geisel, the real Dr. Seuss. Students get so involved with the books that they continue to read them over and over for the rest of the school year. The books and CDs would be used during Literacy Work Station time in the classroom in which students move through different centers such as the library center, listening center, and word work.
Your donation to this project will allow students to have their own favorite Dr. Seuss book.
They will learn basic sight words, word families, and story elements. The students will listen to fluent and expressive readers telling their favorite book. Many students do not have access to a library because of budget cuts in our community. These new books will be welcome additions to our classroom and the students will become life-long readers and share with you their love of books!
