My Students
Our typical day is not at all typical. Every day is an adventure and my students are willing participants in whatever journey I take them on. At the end of the school year I want my students to feel comfortable in their own skin and be able to express themselves both verbally and in written form.
I work in a special education school with children between the ages of 10 and 12 ranging in disability from Downs Syndrome to Autism to Emotional Disturbance.
My school is extremely diverse, multicultural and ranging in socioeconomic backgrounds. My school provides a multi-sensory approach to learning and we work to ensure all students achieve their individualized goals.
My Project
By receiving these writing materials we would be able to better differentiate writing instruction and provide my students with a multi-sensory approach using an award winning writing curriculum. We would provide them with an outlet for written expression.
Donations to this project would allow me the freedom to my own money for other classroom essentials.
Many of my parents cannot afford to purchase writing materials for their child, therefore the burden of locating and purchasing materials lies on us. It will change their lives by allowing them to express themselves in ways they were not able to do before.
