This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have a very lively bunch of 3- through 5-year-old students. We like to do things hands-on so we are up, moving and using all our energy in positive ways! We are always on the go and always very busy! Therefore, our days need to be planned out with activities to meet the specific needs of the students! We are always actively engaged in our lessons and learning while we are having FUN! (Shhhh! Don't tell them it's work; it's our play and fun that helps us learn!) Most of my students come from low-income families in the city of Pittsburgh.

My Project

This upbeat workshop introduces a readiness curriculum full of developmentally appropriate activities that teach children about letters, body awareness, numbers, sequencing, and sharing in a fun, engaging, and informal manner.

The Get Set for School Pre-K Readiness & Writing Workshop is an introductory level class." - As stated on the Handwriting Without Tears Website

After attending the workshop I will be able to take my newfound knowledge and materials back to my classroom to implement new strategies to teach my students how to write in a developmentally appropriate way, without tears!
