Handwriting Without Tears for Functional Life Skills!
My students need a hands on mulitsensory approach to handwriting which can be provided through the Handwriting Without Tears program.

My Students
The students I serve are in the functional life skills program with a large range of diagnoses. A sample of some of the diagnoses include cerebral palsy, downs syndrome, brain injury, autism, intellectual disabilities, and other rare genetic disorders.
This school is a title 1 school serving students with significant special needs including medically fragile, intellectually challenged and functionally impaired students.
These children are motivated, excited to learn, and eager to please. Most learn best through multi sensory hands on learning.
My Project
The Handwriting Without Tears materials requested will allow our students with special needs the opportunity to work in a mulitsensory hands on approach to learn writing skills.
Many of the students we serve in this program are not able to learn in a traditional manner and this program and it's components provide materials for alternative learning.
These materials include wood pieces to build letters, magnetic pieces to assemble letters, playdough and trays with the matching letter cards to build letters, a workbook that breaks down letter writing into simple components for each student. This program was created by an OT from a developmental approach.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
