This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
All my students are currently reading well below grade level, so I am implementing targeted intervention support, which is crucial for their progress and success in class.
Word-building is the foundation of learning to read and to spell multisyllabic words, so building graphemes a syllable at a time shows students how multisyllabic words work for decoding and encoding.
Constructing words with magnetic tiles on a baking sheet provides students with a tangible understanding of how words function in both decoding and encoding which is fundamental to the process of learning to read. Access to these tiles supports my students' reading goals.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
