I love my students. They are so empathetic and understanding towards one another. They do a wonderful job of working hard, and are very open to talk about when they are struggling with a social or academic concept. My classroom is very unique and has a large range of kids from a variety of backgrounds and economic levels. In my room alone, there are five different home languages represented.
It's so encouraging to see that although my students come from so many backgrounds, they are able to work together cohesively to learn and grow.
I continually try to bring in opportunities for students to build a community of learners.
My Project
We are requesting various building sets, a wireless doorbell, table spots and an interactive globe and map. These resources will help my students learn the content of Social Studies and Science in a unique way. The interactive map and globe will allow students to access multiple parts of the world in a unique way. The LEGOs will be used in a variety of content areas, math, literacy, and science. In math we will use them while learning about fractions, in literacy we will build and create scenes from our books, and in science they can be used as we build sound proof wall models. The light shades will help my students feel more comfortable in the classroom and allow me to keep all the lights on. There are students who complain of headaches and we often turn off a set of lights to appease this.
