Hands on Technology to Reinforce Science

This project is fully funded

Hands on activities are an integral component in Exploring Technology, an elective class for over 250 6th through 8th graders in the most diverse middle school in North Carolina. It is wonderful to watch students discover and learn while having fun! It is also important to connect to other subjects whenever possible and the items requested fit perfectly into both the Technology and Science curriculums. The Build It, Power It, and Control It Activity Kits (which can be used for years to come) allow for basic understanding of how machines work and then build toward the higher order thinking, including power and electricity. Because varying abilities of students take this class, items like these are critical to insure the success of all my students. These kits not only allow students to build the machines assigned, but there are enough materials for students to then explore on their own and become designers themselves. The problem solving involved is not only part of the curriculum but helps students to be better prepared for high school and beyond. When they begin to understand and then carry their learning a step further, it is a joy to see. Thank you in advance for considering this proposal.I would appreciate your help in providing these learning tools for my students.
