My Project

What I love most about my students is their curiosity, creativity, and willingness to take risks, even when learning a new language feels challenging. They are natural storytellers who love to imagine, act, draw, and share ideas. When given opportunities to move, collaborate, and create, they shine. These resources will allow them to learn Spanish through experiential learning and hands-on learning activities that honor how young learners learn best.

These hands-on materials connect directly to our project-based learning approach, where students become story makers in this storytelling lab we are creating by transforming their ideas into real stories.

We will split the project into different phases and working stations. The storytelling games, cubes, and dice games will give students concrete prompts to generate characters, settings, and actions. It will lower the anxiety of having to come up with ideas when ideas do not come. Therefore, it will help build confidence. These tools support student-centered learning, as students make choices, collaborate with peers, and guide the direction of their own stories in Spanish.

Once we have decided on our prompts, the storyboard notebook will help students visually organize and write their ideas before creating digital stories. This supports inquiry-based learning, as students explore how stories are structured and experiment with sequencing events using drawings and key vocabulary. Planning their stories helps students think critically about meaning and communication across languages.

Lastly, we will use classroom technology stations where students will digitally create and edit their stories in multiple ways. Our shared laptop will allow students to type and revise previously written Spanish text. Our shared tablet will support drawing and visual storytelling, and the shared phone functions as a recording tool for oral language, narration, performance, and sharing our story. Together, these stations create an immersive, hands-on learning environment.
