it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My 2nd grade students are curious, hands-on learners who love to explore the world around them. They ask big questions, love getting messy in the name of science, and thrive when they can learn by doing.
This project will bring science to life through two exciting STEM investigations: plant growth and volcanoes!
We’ll grow real plants to learn about life cycles, habitats, and what living things need to survive. Then, we’ll dive into Earth science by building and erupting model volcanoes to understand landforms, chemical reactions, and how our planet changes over time.
To make this happen, I’m requesting materials like magnifying lenses, soil, seeds, planters, volcano kits, baking soda, vinegar, and safety gear. These hands-on experiments will spark engagement, deepen understanding, and make science unforgettable.
These projects will allow students to become scientists in their own classroom—observing, predicting, experimenting, and reflecting. By giving them real-world STEM experiences, you’re helping them build a foundation in critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration.
