My Students
My students are amazing! No matter what challenges they face at home or in their community they come to me full of eagerness and ready to learn. Each day is a new adventure full of surprises. The love they have for learning amazes me everyday. My students really work hard and take pride in their work. We have the mindset, now we need the resources.
My school is located in middle of Columbus and consists mainly of low-income African-American students.
I tell my kids all the time that it's never too early to reach for your goals. Although we are an elementary school, I strive for my students to be college and career ready. Watch us as we move from good to great!
My Project
One of the things I have incorporated into my classroom this year is allowing my students the time to show off their creativity and exercise their young minds through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.) As a part of our mornings we have a small time slot dedicated to STEAM time. But unfortunately, our resources are limited.
STEAM activities enforce problem solving skills, creativity, and critical thinking.
It's the 21st century, these children are growing up in a time where scientific and technological innovations are becoming very important. It is my goal to help prepare them for college and careers in this 21st century world we now live in.
