My Students

Our first and second graders in room 128 are energetic, enthusiastic, and super social. They are so enjoyable to be around. They love being involved in the learning process and want to succeed.

Learning never stops!

Our school is located in northwest Milwaukee. Most of our families struggle with poverty, which creates difficulties in having supplies needed for learning at school and home. Our goal is to provide an equitable education for each student by using DonorsChoose to be able to have the resources and supplies needed for them to reach their full potential.

My Project

The goal of this project is to get the items needed to start an every Friday afternoon science exploration time in our classroom. The kits will be the center point of each center. Students will be in small groups and rotate the centers after a few weeks of exploration in a given center. I want to spark an interest in science in my students and provide an opportunity that may not get anywhere else.

The project materials will enhance my students’ knowledge of many science concepts and build on 21st century learning skills.

What are 21st century skills, you ask? They are often referred to as the 4 C’s: Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity. The goal is to build the whole learner with also learning about science concepts. Here are the following concepts that will be addressed through this project: Coding/Robotics, Engineering & Design, Force & Motion, and Magnetism. Please consider this project. This would a huge educational opportunity for my first and second graders.
