Help me give my students the ability to collaboratively learn using sticky notes and easel paper, a hose for teaching vasculature, notebooks to improve literacy, and a copious amounts of gloves!
My students vary widely, but they all get excited when their learning is hands-on. I cannot describe how the atmosphere shifts when students begin to work their minds in conjunction with their hands. This not only includes dissections and labs, but collaborative teams where students help sharpen each other. There are students from every socioeconomic strata, but they all come together around their questions surrounding biology and anatomy. My students consistently impress me with how much they are able to accomplish through their creativity and cooperation.
My Project
My students respond to working together collaboratively, and I use sticky notes and easel paper to facilitate team discussions in which students connect concepts they are learning. Student notebooks improve literacy and quality of ideas through free writing and structured short answer prompts. The gloves provide protection for my students as they investigate science in real-time through experimentation and dissections. The hose and adapter are for a specific lesson plan which I use to teach blood vessels. I use expo markers for agendas, examples, and review games. This is a hodgepodge of materials, but I have spent a lot of my own money to supply items like these in previous years. Please help me fund my science classroom!
