Hands-On Science

My Students

As students who come from tough backgrounds they have their challenges. We have a high percentage of free and reduced lunch and refugees from other counties. They've moved a lot, don't have a permeant residency, parents work multiple jobs, or have parents who have moved them here for the chance of a better education.

Despite their harsh upbringing my school has some of the sweetest and most dedicated students.

They work harder than others just to be successful at things we take for granted.

My Project

The best way to learn science is to have materials in your hands. My students need to have these manipulatives to really learn the science.

I want my students to know that learning is fun and that science is fun!

They need more examples of how it applies to their life and that science it all around us.

They will use the The Sun, Earth and Moon model and Globes to explore and expand their knowledge about how our solar system works; why we have moon phases; and how seasons work.

These materials will benefit students for years to come and I know that it will make such a difference in how they are learning and what they are able to remember.
