Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn." -Benjamin Franklin.
I teach a group of sweet, generous, and kindhearted students.
They are in first grade in a Title I school and many of our students have economic and linguistic challenges.
My students love school and they love to learn! As a teacher, I want my students to learn to their fullest potential. I want them to stay excited and committed to learning. This hands-on project about the insects and the life cycle of insects will help my students stay excited about learning.
My Project
I want to allow my students to develop a love for science by doing hands-on activities. Students will have the opportunity to observe the ladybugs and butterflies daily within their classroom and watch the life cycle of insects! The students will actively engage in hands-on learning! Students will observe, write and illustrate their observations of the different stages of the butterfly and ladybug. Not only will students be able to see this process in action, they will also have the models to refer to once the butterflies and ladybugs have left our class.
My students are naturally curious and ask questions about the world around them.
The children will learn the importance of taking care of animals and they will get to watch all the stages of the life cycles of ladybugs and butterflies.
