This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My science students are in 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who are in a small self-contained classroom. I currently have about 55 students that I teach. They enjoy things the same as every other middle school students, but need reading and writing modified to their level.
My students learn best by having hands on activities to support their learning.
With this project I will be able to give my students opportunities to learn more about ecosystems and the rock cycle. Owl pellets will be used to teach students about predator/prey relationships and how it affects ecosystems. The hydroponics kits will be used to demonstrate to students how to grow food without soil. Lastly, the rock cycle kit will show students real examples of the different types of rock in each of the three stages of the rock cycle.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
