Dirt, soil, and sun, means learning fun for my 3rd grade students! I plan to continue to teach about Alternate Energy because every child needs to experience what the earth can give us naturally.
Our public school is in a city that serves the second largest military base in the US.
We are a diverse class of 4th graders who come to school eager to learn. I feel giving my students knowledge about our earth will foster passions that will carry them into many Science related careers in the future. My entire class is interested in what is happening in their world and how they can make it a better place for all of us. They are bright, eager to learn and are always wanting more science knowledge and love hands-on activities. We are experiencing major budget cuts in NC and we do not have money for extras such as hands-on activities that give students a real-life knowledge of math and science and their environment.
My Project
Taking control of your environment and understanding the need for alternate energies is possible if you understand nature. I would like for my students to experience Science first hand! I am moving to a new grade level and classroom this year. I am excited to have an area where I can create a Botanical Reading Garden for my students. I have many items available to teach them about Alternate Energies such as solar and wind. I need the Science leveled books that teach about our Earth so they can understand why we need Alternate Energies. My students also will need a set of Science centers to deepen their knowledge of the world around them in a fun and easy to understand way. With these tools I can begin teaching my students about nature and their environment so they will be ready to embrace Alternate Energies.
I want all my students to understand and have respect for the world around them.
I want my students to grow in knowledge about the earth because they will be it's caretaker one day. With the right tools I feel I can give my students the knowledge they need to foster their imaginations to become and to create great ideas that we can only dream about now.
