My Project
My sweet students come to me with many different backgrounds. We have families in the military, ELL families, and students in two different special needs programs.
Our school is absolutely amazing!
We are located in a rural area! Since many students also live in the rural area, these students are part of the 4H and have many different animals as pets. We've even brought a pig to school! We are a small Title I school that emphasizes technology and reading.
In first grade we love to use materials that make our learning come to life. Tools help foster the growth of reading, writing, math, and fine motor skills. Students need access to these tools to help engage in their learning. Without them, learning isn't as exciting or fun.
We learn about a lot of fun topics like the human body, early world civilization, and the solar system. To help students really comprehend the stories, we love to bring in materials that can give them a visual and a hands on experience.
The resources requested will give the students that experience!
For example, we will use the Sun Earth Moon Planetarium to see how the earth revolves around the sun and that the moon revolves around the earth. Students learn the order of the planets, and the Planet Planetarium will be a great visual to learn this. We will use the lab coats and stethoscopes when we have our "Operation Day"! We spend part of the day celebrating all we learned about the human body by acting as doctors and applying our knowledge to different activities. One topic we learn in first grade are Habitats and Animals. The books requested will help them learn of the different habitats around the world.
