This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

While my ELL students come from a low-income community, they come motivated and excited to learn! So many come with limited background in their own language and these materials will help them become familiar with the American English language. Building sound recognition takes time. Using visuals and having students participate in their own learning with these activities will help them build strong foundations in the American English language. These materials such as different color pocket charts, pocket chart activities and magnetic phonic activities will directly affect each student because I will be able to work in small groups with them as they are learning the language! I will be able to take small groups of students from my the classroom and work with them to build up on their current language skills and/or help them develop their language skills (for those who have had no education in their home country.
