My Students

I have 21 inquisitive 5th grade learners who especially love to read and use technology. Six students are from bilingual houses, and many juggle two homes to be with both of their parents during the week. They are willing to work hard, and retry difficult skills. My favorite thing about this class is their willingness to collaborate and work as a team with any other student. They also love the arts- giving up recess time to practice for band, or perfect an art project.

My Project

We have science texts, but they don’t teach the concepts as well as hands-on activities. I would love to teach my students introductory physics concepts with fun labs and interactive activities. These physics kits will teach force and motion and simple machines. They will also replace kits that are old and missing important pieces. Additionally, these kits are hands on instead of technology based. Modern students have access to videos and video games for learning at home, but hands on activities are not as available as they used to be. I look forward to seeing them collaborate with these kits instead of slideshows.
