This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day full of energy, excited to learn, play, and explore! My students ask so many questions on a daily basis and are so curious, interested, and cannot wait to use their imagination to create words and stories. I want to encourage the love for learning for my students.

I teach at a Title I Pre-K in southeast Texas where all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of my students receive backpacks with food on the weekends. Plus, we just suffered through 3 floods in just two years and now a pandemic that close our school since March. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can and be successful one day.

My Project

As we begin the school year virtually with the hope of returning soon, the alphabet tubs will be used in small, virtual groups. The teacher's hands will manipulate the tubs and create fun games for the students. When we return, they will be used in the same manner but manipulated by the student.

The donation of these learning activities will build upon letter sound skills which are foundational components to strengthen my students' alphabet knowledge.

This activity allow them to focus on initial and final sounds of words. Letter sound knowledge helps my students as they begin their learning careers.
