My Students
Our students have the chance to participate in two truly wonderful programs. One offers them the opportunity to even play a concert with one of the world's best orchestras. The other group is participating in Recorder Karate. Both programs require recorders and we don't have enough to go around.
Our school is an urban public school with children whose parents have immigrated to the United States from all over the world.
Many of our children speak Bosnian, Arabic, Farsi, Spanish, or a few other languages as well as learning English. One language we can all share is music.
My Project
Recorders will allow our third and fourth grade students to have hands-on experiences that will greatly enhance the music education they are already receiving. Learning an instrument at such a young age elevates the student's confidence in their ability to learn other complex systems. It also provides an opportunity for a life-long hobby, skill, or in many cases profession. Playing the recorder provides the student with the foundational knowledge required to play almost any other instrument.
Students at our school appreciate the opportunities they are given to learn in a variety of ways.
They understand how terrific it is when somebody cares enough to help them out. When the fourth grade is sitting in the symphony orchestra hall playing along with world-class musicians they will be thinking of you and thanking you.
