Hands-On, Minds-On For Science!

My students need a 3-D Skeletal System magnet model, a 24" Human Skeleton Model, and a Human Skeleton Poster to learn science through hands-on, mind-on activities.

My Students

How cool would it be to learn the skeletal system with lifelike models! My students will be clamoring to learn about their bone structure with this awesome project.

My Title I school is located in a wonderful city in NC that serves one of the largest military bases in the country.

We reach several hundred children with military connected families, as well as students with military parents who are currently deployed. We have students who have traveled around the world, and some who have never left this city. All economic levels are represented, as well as students with English as their second language. My class is a diverse class of enthusiastic learners who love learning. I have the SLD, ESL cluster class with many ethnic groups and learning levels represented.

My Project

My third grade students are required to learn about the skeletal system in science. Science is already their favorite subject because of all the fun science resources in our classroom from DC. Learning the skeletal system with a really cool 3-D magnetic model would be a great learning experience for my group of SLD and ESL students. They won't be reading about the skeletal system, they will be experiencing learning. The 3-D system is used on the classroom magnetic whiteboard and students build and label the skeletal structure. This hands-on activity will help my students retain knowledge and give them a curiosity for learning more about their bodies. Having the huge and colorful poster of the skeletal system will help them match the names of the bones. After my students have studied and labeled the skeletal system, they can really get their hands into the 24" skeleton model. All this sounds creepy, and my students will be counting the minutes until science class!

I would absolutely love to have these skeletal models for my students.
