This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These math resources will continue to enhance the experience of learning number sense and other mathematical concepts that I strive to teach in my kindergarten classroom. During math block, my students love to learn through hands-on activities. I have noticed that the lack of math materials have impacted math concepts acquisition significantly in my class. For this project, I have selected math resources that are adequate for their age and the knowledge we are building in kindergarten. I have included counting sets, number puzzles in which my students will work on skills such as counting, number sense, basic addition and subtraction, and motor skills practice. These are critical skills needed to be practiced at this stage.

With the new math resources, my students will be able to choose and learn new math skills from a variety of materials and games that will allow them to access complex mathematical concepts.

They will also be able to choose math games that interest them. This will lead to my students practicing social skills while learning math. My students have shown how much they love math centers time, and this project will help me give them access to a more enrich learning experience that will carry on in years to come.
